5. ¿¬»ç¾à·Â : Dr. In-ho Lee, currently a University Professor at Myongji University, was
President of the Korea Foundation until the end of 2003. Previous to that
she served as Ambassador to Finland(1996-98) and to the Russian
Federation.(1998-2000) Before she became the first woman ambassador Korea
ever had, Dr. Lee was Professor of History at Seoul National Unversity. She
had also taught at Korea University, Columbia University, and , as a
visiting professor, at Haverford College.
Dr. Lee has also served on various national commissions and boards such as
the Presidential Commission on Education Reform(1994-96) and Korea
Broadcasting System(1989-92)
In-ho Lee was educated at Seoul National University, Wellesley College, and
Harvard University where she received her Ph.D. in History. Her specialty
is Russian history.
In her special lecture, Dr. Lee will talk about her experience of
studying the English language and how it affected her life and career. She
will also share her thoughts on how the Koreans as a nation should overcome
the language barrier which still inhibits the people from utilizing their
talents to the fullest.
